Welcome to our homepage, my name is Shinji Takada, representative director of Yamanaka Inc.
Our company was first incorporated in August, 2008 and specializes as a distributor of fresh fish and shellfish from the Sanriku Coastline both domestically and internationally.
Located at the southern end of the Sanriku Coast in Ishinomaki City, our region is blessed with the convergence of the cold Oyashio and warm Kuroshio ocean currents and a mineral rich coastline.
This region hosts a thriving fishing and aquaculture industry that is renown as one of the three great fishing grounds of Japan.
However, environmental changes brought on by global warming and a shrinking domestic Japanese market will present critical challenges for the Sanriku fishing industry. In order to address these risks, we must open up to a new structure of business.
One that can bring together existing systems while also remaining flexible and adaptable enough to integrate with new models and ideals. A major transition is underway that will define the industry and business landscape in the years to come.
Yamanaka Inc is dedicated to addressing these challenges and is committed to developing a thriving and sustainable distribution system of excellent marine products.
Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award
On December 13th, 2019, Yamanaka was proud to receive the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award in recognition of Yamanaka’s continued mission to help support the recovery and revitalization of the aquaculture industry in Miyagi Prefecture.
Upon receiving this award from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Shinji Takada, Yamanaka’s representative director expressed his deep appreciation to all the employees and affiliated producers of Yamanaka who made this possible.
Takada further reinforced that Yamanaka will continue to make further efforts towards this effort.
MARINOVATION is a new brand by Yamanaka that seeks to stimulate innovation within the Japanese fishing industry. Through this brand we seek to challenge fisheries to strategize and innovate for future challenges.
Yamanaka has launched a new initiative to promote and export Miyagi Oysters from the Sanriku Coast to the international market. Our top quality oysters have been certified under the JAPAN BRAND name for this fiscal year.
